Clothes shopping has a bad reputation for the carbon footprint associated with it – the materials are not always sustainably sourced, the shipping is often not especially environmentally friendly, and clothing chains themselves might not manage their businesses in an eco friendly way. Sustainable clothing is becoming more commonplace and mainstream though, which is good news for the planet and the everyday consumer, who wants planet friendly goods without having to go too far out of their way to get them.
Look out for more eco friendly options when shopping in everyday clothing stores as many are moving towards more eco friendly models. When you do see ranges that claim to be environmentally friendly, take the time to look into this and understand exactly what it means for you as a consumer. A reduction in plastic, or better eco credentials are not always good enough – if a shop doesn’t meet your high levels of integrity, shop somewhere else that does.
